Our hands and feet say a lot about us – our self-care and our health — so I thought I would share some of my favorite tips and products. As winter tends to dry out our skin, this is a great time to ‘buff up’ on some skin and nail strategies! Each tip is something I do personally so I hope you enjoy.
Dry skin makes you look old! And if your outer skin is dry, so are your inner tissues and organs. If you pinch the skin on the back of your hand and it ‘creeps’ back into place, you are dehydrated. Also, if you drink water and immediately have to go to the bathroom, that is another sign of dehydration.
Hydrate Suggestion . . .
Drink half of your body weight in ounces of water (if you weigh 150#, that would be 75 oz). In addition, Lifestyle for Health carries a wonderful product to help your water be ‘wetter’ and absorb more easily. Follow the directions on the label (15 drops in one liter of water). It is easy, the bottle lasts a long time and it truly does work. You can call our office for this amazing product (719-488-5688).
BUFF & SHINE!
I’ve trained my manicurist and I often do this between visits. Once all polish is off and nails are shaped. I ‘buff’ my nails. Any store that sells nail supplies will sell nail buffers. I like the brands that have 3 choices for buffing. I apply a very small amount of coconut oil on nails and then buff away. My nails look amazing without any polish! The buffing also helps improve circulation to the nail bed, which improves nail health.
Nail Oil Suggestion . . .
In addition to the coconut oil, I love to use Dr. Hauschka Neem Nail oil! They also have a wonderful pencil shape you can use to push into the cuticle. This product has strengthened my nails and greatly improved my cuticles – I just love how it feels!
So, hydrate, buff, oil and enjoy beautiful nails, hands and feet! Your body will love the attention and people will notice the difference! Both items make for wonderful gifts . . . who could use some hand and nail attention? How about pampering them and you!
